FABRIC

CARE…

With an ethos based on longevity and beauty, carefully sourcing our fabrics ranks high on our agenda. The linen in our garments is woven close to Victoria's paternal family home in Northern Ireland. The vegetable tanned leather components are made by ourselves and a small family run leather company in the west country, and we use only the highest quality waxed cotton and canvas, manufactured in the UK by a long established mill.

With a background in sustainable slow ’fashion and textiles, we create our clothing to last. Here we have compiled fabric care instructions to help you ensure a long life for your garment. As with all natural material, great care will result in positive benefits.

Linen: SwiftApron, RyeDungarees, SiskinDress**, WrenDress, FieldDress

Our linen has been sourced for its sustainability and strength. Over time and washing it will soften naturally and develop more character

However, high temperatures in the washing or drying process can shrink or damage linen. We pre-shrink each one of our garments but we suggest being kind to your linen to ensure your new garment stays in great condition for the long run!

Ideally hand wash in lukewarm water - and do not wring out. Use a mild detergent

If you do machine wash, use a gentle cycle with a cold temperature or a maximum of 30° on tougher dirt’ as with any fabric, excess washing will result in damage over time.

Please line or hanger dry away from direct heat

Please do not tumble dry

Oilskin / Classic waxed cotton : ‘Sanford oilskin’ apron, ’Swift oilskin’ apron, ‘Blyth’ apron.

Traditional waxed cotton or oilskin ’is an inherently characterful fabric that softens and evolves with wear, developing a unique patina over time. As with any waxed item, high temperatures are to be avoided.

Wipe down with a damp cloth and warm water - do not machine wash.

Use mild detergent and be gentle- vigorous scrubbing will damage the coating.

Line / hanger dry naturally, out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Re-waxing can replenish the coating. Use a suitable product and follow instructions carefully.

Drywax  canvas: ‘Sanford drywax’ Apron**

Unlike traditional waxed cotton fabrics where the woven cloth is hot waxed, Drywax canvas uses waxed thread to produce a machine washable fabric which has a low oil content and a drier feel.

Machine or hand wash in cold / lukewarm water

Use a mild detergent

Spot wash heavier soiling with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge

Wash separately (or with like items, leaving plenty of room in the drum) to ensure free movement and even wetting

Remove immediately and line or hanger dry - do not tumble dry!
